The S5 and S6 Geography students recently completed a field trip to Tung Ping Chau, a geological treasure within the Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark.

Blessed with beautiful weather, the students engaged in essential fieldwork, directly observing the island’s unique geology. Tung Ping Chau is renowned for its fine laminated siltstone —the youngest rock formation in Hong Kong—which provides an ideal outdoor classroom for studying geological processes.

The students focused on the most impressive features of coastal landforms and rock formations, including the three signature sights: Kang Lau Shek, Lung Lok Shui and Cham Keng Chau.

This trip was an invaluable experience, offering practical insight into coastal erosion, differential weathering, and sedimentation in a spectacular setting.
